As announced in the February 2014 TX802 Buzz, executive board elections for the 2014-2015 year are scheduled for Friday, 25 April 2014. This is a special meeting scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., for booster club members, being held the Friday night of the April Camp Curry. Per booster club bylaws, you must be a member of the booster club in order to vote.
Membership in the booster club is only $2.00 per person and there is still time to join. The last day to become a member of the TX802 Squadron Boosters is Friday, April 18, 2014.
The executive board positions are: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Parliamentarian. Today we kicked off our fall fundraiser! We usually have two fundraisers a year (once in September/October and once in January/February), but our goal this year is to raise the funds we need and only conduct the fall fundraiser. Booster club funds are used to support cadet activities, purchase supplies, support the squadron competition team(s) and used to host the annual Military Ball.
From now until Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 the squadron will be selling Coca~Cola products for $21.00 a case. These are 20 oz bottles which are normally sold for $1.25 – $2.00 a bottle.
- Parents & guardians are asked to sell these products to friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. Please remember if you allow your cadet to sell they should be safe! Cadets should not sell to neighbors you don’t know or without your permission. They should always let you know where they are going, and how long they will be gone.
- All orders and money must be turned in by Wednesday, October 9th, 2013. Please verify your order and money, then seal in an envelope with the order from enclosed, and return the envelope to your cadet’s commander.
- All orders must be picked up on Monday, October 28th, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at C.E. King Middle School in front of the CAP Room.

As per booster club bylaws, an election was held at the April general booster club meeting. On April 25, 2013 the following officers were elected to serve for the 2013/2014 calendar:
President: D. Michael Schulin, Jr.
Vice-President: Elissa Hill
Treasurer: Raymond Hicks
Parliamentarian: LaShonda Jackson-Dean
The new board will seek a volunteer to fulfill the position when the new school year starts.
Additionally, the general membership addressed the proposed amendments to the TX802 Squadron Boosters Bylaws. The proposals were made at the February 28, 2013 general membership meeting, with a first by member Kelsey Gates and a second by Brenda McNeil. Notice was then given, in accordance with the booster club bylaws, over 30 days in advance, and published in the same notices distributed regarding the executive board election. The following amendment changes were proposed and voted on individually:
- Article 5.1 – change “Sergeant-At-Arms” to “Parliamentarian”
- Article 9.1 – change “will hold 5 to 9 regular meetings” to “will hold a minimum of four regular meetings”
- Article 9.3 – insert “or 2/3rd of the member (if the membership is below twenty)”, before “in good standing”
All proposed amendments were accepted unanimously and changes will be made to the booster club bylaws to reflect those changes.

Wreaths Across America – Houston
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and thanking our veterans for their service and sacrifice. The Wreaths Across America mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”. The annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery started in 1992 is now performed around the country.
Wreath Season is Here!
There is just a month to go in the 2012 season. It won’t be long before thousands of volunteers begin to lay wreaths upon so many of our fallen heroes at the Houston National Cemetery. Every dollar makes a difference since a wreath is only $15.00 and there are so many of our fallen that need a wreath.
This summer Sheldon Cadets helped kick-off the annual wreath fundraising drive by participating in the Wreaths Across America-Houston Reading. Sheldon Cadets helped read the names of over 78,000 men and women buried in the Houston National Cemetery. Service members from every American war are buried in the Houston National Cemetery and Sheldon Cadet Squadron is proud to honor our fallen heroes.
If you are interested in purchasing a wreath to place at the headstone of a service member buried at the Houston National Cemetery you can purchase a wreath through the squadron (by turning in this form into your cadets instructor), until Friday, 9 November 2012 or you can do so securely online by clicking here or use the short url http://tinyurl.com/waatx802.
You can request for a specific individual to receive a wreath, but you need to note the specific grave location. To find the specific location, go to the Nationwide Graveside Locator.
